The End of an Era

The last six months have been the most chaotic and stressful months of my life. I’ve spent day after day on LinkedIn, Indeed, Handshake, and more looking for a job post-graduation.

These past 4 years of college, I had the false sense of security that my degree would be the gateway to a serious, career-level job. But all I have gotten is ghosted by hiring managers and strung along through the hiring process, only to be rejected.

Rejection after rejection after rejection.

It’s really hard to keep the good vibes up and feel excited about graduation when all I hear in the back of my mind is…

“You’re stupid”

“Your degree means nothing”

“4 years of hard work for nothing”

When I thought all hope was lost… the clouds parted (literally… we live in northeast Ohio).

In the last 3 weeks, everything has done a complete 180. One of my professors reached out to me about a job opportunity, and within a day, I had an interview with the company. 1 week later I had a second interview, and then that same day, I received a job offer from Full Spectrum Marketing.

A MARKETING STUDENT’S DREAM JOB.

And yet, as I run my victory lap, all I can think of is Nervous Dog.

queue the tears

Nervous Dog has been my home for the past 4 years. From a literal child to a full-blown adult, my experience at ‘The Dog’ has forever changed me. Or more so, the people have changed me.

It is so rare in the service industry to have such a high retention rate, and if you worked here for a day you would understand why. If my coworkers sucked, I probably wouldn’t have stayed here so long- but I would literally die for them.

As my time at Nervous Dog comes to a bittersweet end, I find myself filled with a mix of nostalgia for the memories made and excitement for the new chapter awaiting me.

As they say in so many graduation speeches and movies, This isn’t goodbye. It’s more of a “see you later”.

Thank you Nervous Dog.

But more importantly, thank you to my second family- Max, Cody, Adam, Ari, CJ (and Jack, I wish I worked with you more)- Every one of you has left a mark on my life.
